South Block Stadionplein

Amsterdam

The consortium Vink Bouw / IQNN Real Estate is developing the South Block project on the Stadionplein in Amsterdam. It pertains to a culinary centre for people who love and are interested in good nutrition and taste in combination with a hotel.

Development

A food museum, a cookery theatre, a cooking school and a tasting room have been developed in the culinary centre. A roof garden is also included in the culinary centre. The hotel has 60 rooms. The culinary centre is on the ground and first floor; the hotel on the second and third floor. There is also an underground parking garage with 221 parking spaces of which 161 for the neighbours and 60 for guests.

The building is designed by Kollhoff Architekten. The architecture of the building coincides with the surrounding buildings and the building also forms an urban ensemble with the Citroen Garages that are located on the other side of the Amstelveenseweg.

The South Block project is a sustainable building. It generates a large part of the energy itself. A system is also being developed for sustainable heating and cooling of the building. The project meets the criteria for the Gold Class concerning the standard for sustainable hotels of the city of Amsterdam and has obtained the Greenkey and the Greenglobe certificates.
