The European tender procedure for the South Block Stadionplein in Amsterdam, the construction site opposite the Olympic stadium, was won by the consortium Vink Bouw and IQNN Real Estate. The Board of the Amsterdam City district of South intends to award the work to this incorporation.

Vink Bouw and IQNN Real Estate have won the selection with the Culinary Centre concept. It is a total concept for people who love and are interested in good nutrition and taste. The project consists of the culinary centre and a hotel.

A food museum, a cookery theatre, a cooking school and a tasting room have been developed in the CulinA Experience. A roof garden is also included in the CulinA Experience. The CulinA Hotel has 93 rooms. The CulinA Experience is on the ground and first floor; the hotel on the second and third floor. There is also an underground parking garage with 232 parking spaces.

The building was designed by Kollhoff Architekten. The architecture of the building coincides with the surrounding buildings and the building also forms an urban ensemble with the Citroen Garages that are located on the other side of the Amstelveenseweg.

CulinA is a sustainable building. It generates a large part of the energy itself. A system is also being developed for sustainable heating and cooling of the building. CulinA meets the criteria for the Gold Class concerning the standard for sustainable hotels of the city of Amsterdam and has obtained the Green Key and the Greenglobe certificates.

A quote from the jury assessment:
‘Vink/IQNN scores well on design, which provides the right connection to the built-up environment. There is talk of a wide accessible public function by way of the centre of taste; the overall concept of CulinA is powerful. Speed and realism are sufficiently substantiated. Sustainability has scored highly in many respects, amongst others on local sustainable energy generation. By means of the good scores across the board, Vink/IQNN comes across convincingly as a winner in this selection. The selection committee was unanimous in its assessment.’

CulinA will be completed by the end of 2015.
